Legalized Casino Gambling has exploded in the past decade and a public forum round is the perfect atmosphere for a discussion of both the economic and social impacts of gambling upon our society. I enjoy this topic because it strikes me as balanced; endless information is available on both sides. Most of the evidence is either from or referring to numerous studies conducted in the 1990’s. While the studies are thorough and informative, it is interesting that most have not been updated. While it is a debate that will center on studies from the past, it is a debate far from resolution. Because there are answers on both sides for every issue, may the team with the most evidence win.
As always, your questions, comments, results, and feedback are welcome at the Finalist Files Forum as well as the “Public Forum Debate” Group. Good Luck in your tournaments this month!
Resolved: The costs of legalized casino gambling in the United States outweigh the benefits.
The February Packet will be released between January 7-10.
